why cyrus/tj is gonna happen

(and not buffy/tj wtf y’all are wack)

• there’s no other person who could be cyrus’ love interest (and we know he has one bc josh spoiled that he knows the endgame)
• he doesn’t have a crush on jonah anymore, and he DOES have one on tj. and there are literally no other guys he talks to extensively
• he just got out of a love triangle where the boy he had a crush on was dating his best friend, they’re not gonna put him in the exact same scenario again
• buffy already established she had a crush on someone while she still hated tj, so it’s not him
• they didn’t have tj look back at buffy, they had tj look back at both cyrus AND buffy so the target audience of 9 year olds wouldn’t be able to figure out what was happening and would watch the next season
• if they were going to do tj/buffy, they wouldn’t have spent every single tj episode developing his relationship with cyrus - they would have done a pride and prejudice scenario with buffy where she and tj are forced into situations together and learn to like each other. they still hated each other before this episode, despite their one on one interactions together, whereas cyrus has been the one responsible for tj’s character development in all of their scenes together
• every single one of tj and cyrus’ interactions is romantically coded. buffy and tj, meanwhile, have had barely any friendship development, let alone romantic
• there’s no time to introduce a new love interest for cyrus (before the show possibly ends with season 3). buffy could easily have a crush on jonah, or marty if they bring him back, or andi but cyrus has only had interaction with tj.
• luke mullen ships tyrus.
• there’s literally no way it’s going to be tj/buffy. im being genuinely serious here. the ambiguity of the look back was purely for drama and a cliffhanger, and i guarantee that we’ll find out explicitly next season that tj likes cyrus back.
