one of the best things about andi mack is almost every kid has someone they can point to and say “hey! they’re just like me!” they covered so many bases with this one show. they gave us a chinese lead with a complicated (and also interracial) family who is shown celebrating her culture. we have a black main character who wears her hair natural, has a military mom, and is incredibly athletic. they also gave us a jewish main character who is gay, is also shown celebrating his culture, and has 4 parents. they gave us another main character who is shown to be charming, perfect, and popular, but also suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. even the side characters are given depth (financial issues, learning disabilities, another gay character, deaf character). i could go on and on but this show did it for the girls and they deserve PRAISE
